Text decoration and case
Apply underline, strikethrough, and text case transforms to text layers.
Text decoration
Text decoration adds visual marks that appear on the text:
| Decoration | When to use |
|---|---|
| Underline | Links, key terms, or subtle emphasis in body text |
| Strikethrough | Crossed-out content (e.g., old prices, deleted items) |
| None | Remove any decoration previously applied |
Applying decoration
- Select a text layer, or select a range of characters in text edit mode.
- In the inspector's Typography section, click the Decoration button (underline or strikethrough icon).
Decoration can be applied to the whole layer or to a character range within the layer.
Text case
Text case changes how the characters render without altering the underlying text content:
| Case | Effect |
|---|---|
| UPPERCASE | All characters appear in capital letters |
| lowercase | All characters appear in small letters |
| Title Case | First letter of each word is capitalized |
| None | Text displays exactly as typed |
Applying case
- Select a text layer or character range.
- In the Typography section, click the Case dropdown and pick an option.
The raw text value is preserved — switching case back to None restores the original capitalization.
Tips
- Avoid overusing UPPERCASE — all-caps text is harder to read at small sizes and in long blocks.
- Strikethrough carries semantic meaning; use it intentionally (e.g., crossed-out sale prices) rather than just for style.
- Use Title Case for headings only — it looks awkward in body text for many locales.
