Text
Add text layers to your design and style them with the typography panel.
Adding text
Press T to activate the Text tool, then:
- Click on the canvas to create an auto-width text layer. The box grows as you type.
- Click and drag to create a fixed-width text box. Text wraps inside the box and the height adjusts automatically.
After placing text, type your content and press Esc when done.
Editing text
Double-click any text layer to enter edit mode and place the cursor. From there:
- Use ⌘A / Ctrl+A to select all text in the layer.
- Drag to select a range of text.
- Use standard keyboard shortcuts to apply Bold (⌘B) or Italic (⌘I) to the selection.
Styling text
With a text layer selected (not in edit mode), use the Typography section in the right inspector to change:
- Font family and weight
- Font size
- Line height and letter spacing
- Paragraph spacing
- Text alignment (left, center, right, justify)
- Text decoration (underline, strikethrough)
- Text transform (uppercase, lowercase, capitalize)
- List style and Truncation controls are visible but currently disabled.
You can also style individual characters or words by selecting them in edit mode and changing the settings.
Text resizing modes
The text resizing mode controls how the text box responds to content changes:
- Auto width — the box grows horizontally as you type.
- Auto height — the box width is fixed; height grows as you add lines.
- Fixed — the box stays the same size; content may overflow if it exceeds the boundary.
Change the mode from the Text resizing dropdown in the inspector.
AI text tools
Select a text layer and use the inline text AI menu to polish, shorten, expand, or translate the selected text.
Tips
- Use Enter inside a text layer to add a line break. Use Shift+Enter for a soft return in some modes.
- Give text layers meaningful names in the layers panel for easier targeting with AI.
- If text feels too small to click, select it from the layers panel and double-click to enter edit mode.
