Lovision

Go to master component

Select the master component linked to a component instance.

What this does

When you select a component instance, the Go to master component action selects the master component that the instance is linked to. This is useful when you want to edit the source design that linked instances should follow.

Using Go to master component

  1. Select a component instance on the canvas.
  2. Right-click to open the context menu.
  3. Choose Go to master component.

Lovision selects the linked master component. If the master is outside your current view, use Shift+2 (Fit selection) after the action to bring the selected master into view.

After navigating to the master

  • The master component is selected and ready to edit.
  • Make your changes, then keep linked instances aligned with the updated source design.
  • Pan back to your working area after editing. Use Shift+1 (Fit all) or Shift+2 (Fit selection) to navigate efficiently.

Tips

  • Use this before making any structural edits to ensure you are editing the master, not an instance. Editing an instance adds overrides to only that copy.
  • If you only need to change one specific instance without affecting others, apply overrides to the instance rather than navigating to the master.
  • If the master component is difficult to find, use Go to master component rather than searching the Layers panel manually.
