Effects
Add shadows, blur, noise, and glass effects to layers.
Effect types
Effects are applied on top of a layer's fill and stroke. Lovision supports the following effect types:
- Drop shadow — casts a shadow behind the layer. Set color, opacity, X/Y offset, and blur radius.
- Inner shadow — draws a shadow inside the layer boundary. Uses the same controls as drop shadow.
- Layer blur — blurs the layer itself. Set the blur radius.
- Background blur — blurs the content behind the layer, creating a frosted-glass feel. Requires the layer to be semi-transparent.
- Noise — adds a grain texture overlay. Control intensity and grain size.
- Glass — a preset combination of background blur and subtle fill that creates a polished glass panel effect.
How to add and configure effects
- Select a layer that supports effects.
- Open the Effects section in the right inspector.
- Click + and choose an effect type from the menu.
- Adjust the effect parameters that appear below it.
- Click the visibility toggle next to an effect to disable it without deleting it.
- Drag effects in the list to reorder them — order affects the final render.
- Click the × button to remove an effect.
Tips
- Drop shadows work best with a low blur radius and a small offset for a grounded look. Increase both for a floating card style.
- Background blur requires the layer fill to have some transparency, otherwise the blur is hidden behind the fill.
- Stacking a drop shadow with a small noise effect can add tactile depth to cards and buttons.
- Disable an effect to compare before and after — this is faster than deleting and re-adding it.
