Create token set from preset
Understand the current status of preset-based token set creation.
Current status
The Tokens popover includes a From preset creation option, but the current editor does not expose a full preset browser or preview workflow. Use manual token set creation when you need a reliable, editable token set today.
Creating a token set manually
- Open the Tokens tool from the editor toolbar.
- Click Create set.
- Choose Empty set.
- Name the set.
- Add color, number, or string tokens to the set.
After creating the set
From here:
- Update colors — change the base palette to match your brand colors.
- Update fonts — replace the preset font families with your chosen typefaces.
- Adjust spacing and radius — fine-tune the scale to your design system's grid.

Tips
- Keep the first set small: start with core colors and spacing before adding component-level tokens.
- Rename tokens freely while the set is still early; clean names are easier to reuse later.
