Lovision

Crop images

Show only part of an image by adjusting its visible crop area.

How cropping works

Cropping in Lovision is non-destructive. The full image remains in the project; only the visible area is trimmed. You can adjust the crop at any time without re-uploading the file.

Entering crop mode

  1. Select an image layer on the canvas.
  2. Double-click the image, or click Crop in the floating inline toolbar.
  3. The image enters crop mode — a crop boundary with handles appears around the image.

Adjusting the crop

  • Drag the edge or corner handles to resize the visible area.
  • Drag inside the crop boundary to reposition the image within the frame.
  • Hold Shift while dragging a corner to constrain the crop to its current aspect ratio.

Applying the crop

Press Enter or click outside the crop boundary to confirm. The layer is updated with the new visible area.

To cancel without saving changes, press Escape.

Fitting the full image back into the layer

To show the full image again:

  1. Enter crop mode for the image.
  2. In the crop controls, click the resize-to-fit icon to fit the full image back into the layer bounds.
  3. Press Enter or click outside the crop boundary to apply the updated crop.

Tips

  • Crop first before running background removal — removing a smaller area is faster and produces cleaner edges.
  • Use a fixed-aspect crop when the image needs to fit a specific slot in a layout (e.g., a 16:9 thumbnail).
  • Combine cropping with the alignment controls to perfectly center the visible subject within the layer bounds.
