Rulers
Show pixel rulers around the canvas to measure position and distance.
What rulers show
When enabled, rulers appear along the top and left edges of the canvas. They display measurements in the same unit as the inspector (pixels by default). The ruler origin (0, 0) corresponds to the canvas coordinate origin.
As you hover or move layers, tick marks on the ruler highlight the current cursor position, making it easier to gauge distances without selecting a layer.
How to toggle rulers
- Open the viewport controls in the bottom-right corner of the editor.
- Click the Rulers toggle to turn them on or off.
Rulers are saved as an editor preference for your account.
Creating guides from rulers
Click anywhere on the horizontal ruler and drag down to pull a horizontal guide onto the canvas. Click the vertical ruler and drag right to pull a vertical guide. Guides appear as blue lines and snap to layer edges when you drag near them.
To remove a guide, drag it back to the ruler area until it disappears.
Tips
- Use rulers when working on spacing-sensitive designs like landing pages or print layouts.
- Combine rulers with the pixel grid for pixel-perfect precision.
- Turn rulers off when you want to maximize canvas space or take a clean screenshot.
