Remove access or leave a project
Revoke a collaborator's access to a project, or leave a shared project you no longer need access to.
Who can remove access
- Manage permission holders can remove any collaborator's access except the project owner.
- The project owner can remove anyone. Ownership transfer is not available from the Share dialog.
Removing a collaborator's access
- Open the Share dialog (the Share button in the header).
- Find the person in the access list.
- Click the permission dropdown next to their name.
- Choose Remove access.
- Confirm the action.
The person loses access immediately. Any share links they used are also revoked. They will not be notified automatically — inform them if needed.
Leaving a shared project
If you no longer need access to a project you were invited to:
- Open the Share dialog.
- Find your own name in the access list.
- Click the dropdown or menu next to your entry.
- Choose Leave project.
- Confirm the action.
After leaving, the project is removed from your project list. You cannot undo this yourself — the project owner or a Manage-permission collaborator would need to re-invite you.
Tips
- Removing access revokes all open sessions — the person is immediately disconnected from real-time editing if they are currently active in the project.
- If you are removing access because of a security concern (e.g., a shared link was exposed), rotate the project's share link after removing access.
- Before leaving a long-term project, download any work you may need — you lose access to the project as soon as you leave.
